Jack Swagger will soon make his big move to MMA.
With over a decade of pro wrestling experience, Swagger, real name Jake Hager, isn’t completely leaving pro wrestling behind. However, he’ll be the first to admit that ahead of his January 26 fight with JW Kiser in Bellator, he hasn’t paid much attention to WWE.
“I’m not current on the storylines, but I’m up to date on the injuries and who is out there. I saw that Crown Jewel tag team match with Triple H and Shawn Michaels and Undertaker and Kane….*fart noises* (laughs),” joked Hager.
It isn’t all bad in the pro wrestling world for Hager. On the female side of things, he said that he’s pretty happy with how things have turned out for two of the top faces in WWE in Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey.
“That’s a cool thing about pro wrestling about how someone just explodes like that and there’s an electricity with everything they touch. Becky’s one of those dream stories. A fan all her life, quit her job to try her hand at it and it’s amazing to see the success, and who doesn’t love an accent? (Ronda’s) great. I find that people with a background in some kind of discipline transition well. Very similar mindsets and techniques with how you prepare for the shows. It wasn’t surprising to me that she’s transitioning well,” said Hager, in an exclusive interview with Fightful.com.
In the full interview with James Lynch, Jake Hager (aka Jack Swagger) talks about his MMA debut Jan. 26 against JW Kiser (1-1) at Bellator 214 on Jan. 26.
