Ronald Ellis To Headline February ShoBox: The Next Generation Card
As Showtime continues to fill the 2019 calendar with boxing broadcasts, the second ShoBox: The Next Generation card has been announced.
Ronald Ellis will fight DeAndre Ware in the main event of a ShoBox: The Next Generation card on February 1 on Showtime from the Main Street Armory in Rochester, New York. The fight, for the NABA, USBO and WBC Continental Americas super middleweight title, headlines a three-bout telecast and it will be Ellis’ fourth time on the show.
Ellis, a 29-year-old boxer from Massachusetts, is undefeated in his 17 pro fights, sporting a 15-0-2 record and last fought in March when he won a unanimous decision over Teneal Goyco. Ware has won three of his four fights in 2018, but his most recent loss came up against Cem Kilic in September.
The co-main event bout of the telecast is Logan Yoon vs. Richard Zamora. Yoon, a former WBO-NABO Youth junior welterweight titleholder, has won all 14 of his pro bouts, winning 11 of them inside the distance. Zamora is on a four-fight win streak since unsuccessfully challenging for the WBC Latino Silver junior welterweight title in 2017. Zamora won his two fights of 2018 by first-round knockout or stoppage.
The televised opening bout for the card will have Abraham Nova face Oluwaseun Joshua Wahab in an eight-round super featherweight bout. Nova, a former NABA-USA titleholder, will be fighting for the third time in the span of three months, looking to improve his 14-0 record. Wahab is also undefeated in 18 fights and is being mentored by African boxing legend Azumah Nelson.
