Brock Lesnar shocked the world when it was announced he’d be competing at UFC 200. As of fight week, he isn’t sure how his future with the MMA organization will play out.
During Wednesday’s UFC 200 pre-fight press conference, the former UFC, NCAA and WWE Champion said that Vince McMahon is the person who ultimately makes the call if he can fight in the UFC or not.
“That’s not a question for me, that’s a question for Vince McMahon. I don’t know. We’ll get through Saturday and see what happens. I have no idea. After Saturday, I think I’m booked through August, I don’t know. We’ll see what happens. It’s maybe a teaser. I have no idea. I’ll never say never. We’ll see.” ” Lesnar said.
Lesnar didn’t bring up Summerslam, much like the WWE hasn’t brought up Lesnar’s UFC 200 fight this Saturday outside of the initial announcement. His relationship with the WWE wasn’t promoted during the UFC press conference.
Brock hasn’t been shy about his reasons for taking the fight – it’s for himself. He’s stated in multiple interviews that while he’s thankful that he has fans, he isn’t fighting for them or the WWE, and doesn’t particularly care what either think of the decision. Lesnar went as far as to say that he “didn’t give a shit” about Stephanie McMahon noting that the WWE was opting to not support or promote the UFC 200 show.
Brock Lesnar will fight the #8-ranked heavyweight Mark Hunt on July 9 at UFC 200 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful will be providing full round-by-round coverage of the event, in addition to pre-and-post show podcasts and analysis.
