Sean O’Connell Retires After Winning $1 Million

Sean O’Connell was last seen in action at Professional Fighters League 11, defeating fellow UFC veteran Vinny Magalhaes by third round TKO to win the PFL Light Heavyweight Playoffs and $1 million.

The newly minted millionaire would announce after the fight that he would be retiring as a professional MMA competitor, something O’Connell would reiterate on Twitter:

 

O’Connell retires with a professional MMA record of 21-10-0, with notable victories coming over Marvin Eastman, Matt Van Buren, Anthony Perosh, Ronny Markes, Smealinho Rama and the aforementioned Vinny Magalhaes. O’Connell had nearly retired before the first ever PFL season took place, but opted to fight instead and now his career ends with an extra million dollars in the bank account.

A now retired O’Connell also spent some time competing in the UFC, ultimately racking up a 2-5-0 record in the organization. O’Connell was also a cast member on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 8, but lost in the opening round of the reality show to Shane Primm.
