Anderson Silva Says He Has Just Three Fights Left As An MMA Fighter

Former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva takes on Israel Adesanya this coming February at UFC 234.

Silva, who has already competed forty three times as a professional MMA fighter, will hang up the gloves after competing three more times.

“I have three more and then it’s done,” Silva at a media event at his new Spider Kick gym. “It’s over.”

If Silva is counting the upcoming Adesanya bout as one of those final three fights, it would mean that he could theoretically end his professional MMA career by the end of 2019.

The former middleweight champion would also like to battle former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor before calling it a career.

“At his point in my career, I believe that the good challenge is the superfight,” Silva said. “I talk to {UFC president] Dana [White] about Georges St-Pierre, about McGregor, about McGregor especially because McGregor is a challenge, this fight. I just talk to Dana a lot about the fight that’s very interesting, fight to this guy. Because he’s an amazing fighter and a legends in this sports and let’s go see. That’s a good game, superfights, and it’s very interesting for my fans.”

UFC 234 takes place on Saturday, February 9 from the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia with Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
