Tyron Woodley Wants To Make A Bet With Colby Covington For Potential Fight
UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley and UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Colby Covington are expected to clash in a title unification fight sometime in 2019.
Woodley would like to make a bet with the interim champion and it has to do with Covington scoring takedowns against him.
“I’ll bet you $10,000,” Woodley said on Hollywood Beatdown. “Every single time you touch my leg for a (takedown) shot, you’ve got to pay me 10 grand. I want people to see it for what it is. You don’t want to see these hands. You don’t want to do nothing but try to out-wrestle me. And at the end of the day, he can’t even do that. So I’m challenging you: No wrestling. You touch my leg, it’s 10 bands. If I touch your leg I’ll give you 20 grand.”
The two have been going back and forth for quite awhile now, with Woodley recently claiming that he used to pay Covington to get beat up during their training sessions back in the day.
Covington would respond to Woodley’s wager with a bet of his own, with Covington’s portion of the gamble having to do with striking.
“What I make of it is, I’m going to counter him and I’m going to bet him on MMA Junkie Radio that I’m going to give him $10,000 for every punch he throws – all five of them,” he said on MMA Junkie Radio.
Both champion and interim champion have recently been recovering from surgeries, so a potential fight date is not set in stone at this time.
