Jim Ross Calls Rumors That He’s Involved With All Elite Wrestling “Eye-Rolling”

Jim Ross wants everyone to know that he has nothing to do with All Elite Wrestling.

On Oct. 19, a report from SEScoops claimed that Jim Ross and Chris Jericho were working behind the scenes to start a new wrestling promotion with the help of billionaire and Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan. Ross and Jericho quickly refuted the report, but there was some smoke to it. Earlier this month, a company by the name of All Elite Wrestling, LLC filed trademarks including “All Elite Wrestling,” “AEW,” “All Out,” and “Double or Nothing.” The company had a registered address of TIAA Bank Field, the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

On the latest edition of the Ross Report podcast, Jim Ross addressed the rumors that he was still involved with the company.

“I’ve been rumored to be in every role in this company. What you find out is eye-rolling, I swear to God, it’s eye-rolling,” said Ross. “At one point it’s Jericho and me, which I thought ‘that’s really stupid.’ Me and Jericho are gonna spend all the money we made over the years to get into the wrestling business. Nah, you crazy? Are you nuts? Then secondly, then we’re not involved at all. It’s these other guys that are really the movers and shakers. There ain’t nothing to move here, folks. There ain’t nothing to shake.” Ross continued, “I’m not in that loop. I’m not pitching to anybody. I don’t have a job. I don’t work for them…at this point in time. It’s either not going to happen whatsoever because the best TV situation cannot be earned. Or, it’s going to be big. Meaning a company with a lot of money, resources, contacts in the media who will want to do it right. I can’t imagine, if it happens, a big if, that the Khan family is going to have a lesser quality-looking show than WWE.”

Ross has long stated that any new company needs “television and talent” if they want to succeed in the world of wrestling. He believes that, should All Elite Wrestling get off the ground, nothing will be announced until 2019 at the earliest.

Ross is currently under WWE contract until the end of March.
