Chris Weidman/Yoel Romero Official For UFC 205

The Eddie Alvarez/Conor McGregor lightweight title fight wasn't the only bout to be made official Tuesday, as former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman will be taking on Yoel Romero at UFC 205.

Weidman (13-1-0) will be competing for the first time since losing his middleweight title to Luke Rockhold at UFC 194. Weidman was originally set to face Rockhold in a rematch at UFC 199, but a surgery to relieve herniated discs in his neck led him to being pulled from the card.

Romero (11-1-0) is returning to competition for the first time since getting suspended by USADA for a failed out-of-competition drug test. The sample that he gave to USADA turned out to be a failure due to a tainted dietary supplement that Romero was taking, he was only given a six month sentence.

Romero is actually undefeated thus far in the UFC, which includes a win over former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida at UFC Fight Night 70. Weidman successfully defended the middleweight championship three times before losing it, defeating Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort during those title defenses.

This will be the sixth straight pay-per-view appearance for Weidman and this will be the second straight pay-per-view appearance for Romero.

UFC 205 takes place on Saturday, November 12th from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor in the main event.
