Rey Mysterio Wants To Wrestle His Son Dominic Before Retiring
Rey Mysterio has one more dream match in mind.
Rey Mysterio has done it all in the wrestling business. He’s a former World Champion and Royal Rumble winner and arguably the most popular luchador in wrestling history. He’s wrestled a who’s who list of Hall of Famers during his 29-year career. But there’s still one more match Mysterio wants to have before he retires.
Speaking to Lillian Garcia on her Chasing Glory podcast, Mysterio revealed that he would like to face his son Dominic before hanging up his mask for good.
“My dream as a father, when they ask you, ‘Rey, what do you have left to do in your career? What is it that you…you pretty much have done a little bit of everything, or you could say you’ve done it all,’ but for me, my final dream come true as a wrestler and as a father is to be able to perform in there with my son so I can say, ‘Ok. Now I’ve done it all. Now, this is it.’ And it’s gonna happen. It really is.”
Mysterio’s son has been training with Lance Storm at the Storm Wrestling Academy. Prior to that, he spent time training with Jay Lethal in Florida. He will head to Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling school or Mexico for Lucha training when his stint at SWA finishes at the end of the month.
Mysterio also revealed on Chasing Glory that he doesn’t see himself wrestling past five more years. He recently signed a new two-year deal with WWE. Earlier this year, Mysterio revealed that he would like to open up a wrestling school of his own when he finally retires.
