Report: NXT UK Talent Only Allowed To Take Bookings With WWE Partnered Promotions
New restrictions placed on NXT UK talent.
James Dixon of WrestleTalk reports that NXT UK talent can only take bookings with WWE partnered Independent promotions such as PROGRESS, ICW and wXw. This means contracted NXT UK talent can no longer work for other Independent promotions such as Defiant and RevPro.
NXT UK stars will be allowed to finish up their current dates with non-partner promotions, but with a couple of caveats. First, a paramedic must be present at the show. This is due to several talents showing up at the UK Performance Center carrying injuries that WWE was previously unaware of. Second, NXT UK talent cannot wrestle anyone under ROH, IMPACT, NJPW, or World of Sport contract. Any advertised bout pitting a NXT UK superstar against a contracted talent from a major promotion must be changed.
It was reported in August that NXT UK talent could still work for non-WWE partner promotions, but not within seven days of NXT UK television tapings. With the NXT UK brand growing, the restrictions grown tighter.
TIDAL Wrestling, a small promotion based in England, announced that Dec. 16 will mark the final appearance of Ligero, who has competed for the company since 2013. Ligero was part of the NXT UK tapings this past weekend in Liverpool.
During the Liverpool tapings on Saturday, Triple H announced the first-ever NXT UK TakeOver event. The event is scheduled for Jan. 12 in Blackpool.
