David Arquette Issues Statement On Deathmatch; Says He Got Injured Due To His Inexperience
David Arquette takes responsibility for how things went down against Nick Gage.
This past Friday at Joey Janela’s LA Confidential, Arquette stepped in the ring with Nick Gage, best known for his gang affiliation and deathmatch wrestling. The two proceeded to have a Nick Gage style match complete with light tubes and pizza cutters. Near the end of the bout, Arquette’s neck sliced open following Gage attacking him with a light tube. Arquette walked out of the match, but returned and tried to get Gage to “go home.” However, Gage kept up the attack. Arquette hit Gage with a chair in what appeared to be a shoot. Finally, Gage tossed Arquette to the mat and pinned him. Arquette immediately got up and walked out.
Please don’t watch this video if you are bothered by blood, hardcore wrestling, profanity, Nick Gage, or David Arquette. With that said, I’m posting it due to questions being asked by the wrestling community. #JJLAC pic.twitter.com/MdHJE2KqM0

Taking to social media, Arquette released on statement on how the end of the bout went down. In the statement, Arquette took responsibility for putting himself in that situation and apologized for bringing negative attention to the wrestling world.
The main reason I got injured was because of my lack of experience – don’t try this at home pic.twitter.com/icQK2wnQNc

I want everyone to know I have nothing but respect for @GCWrestling_ @thekingnickgage @JANELABABY and the main reason I got cut is because I panicked. I was clearly in over my head. They’re pros so please don’t give them shit. Respect https://t.co/0YwuRZVog0

GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale told Pro Wrestling Sheet that Arquette knew what he was getting into when he accepted the match. Arquette was a late replacement for Joey Ryan, who had to be pulled due to a torn pectoral muscle. Lauderdale also wondered if Arquette played up the injury/situation due to a documentary he was filming with Luke Perry.
