Billy Joe Saunders Set For October 22 Title Defense, Undercard Revealed

While WBO Middleweight Champion Billy Joe Saunders still does not have an opponent, the date, location and undercard for that fight has been determined.

In a press release sent Tuesday, the undercard for the Saunders fight will feature several regional titles on the line.

Undefeated WBO World Middleweight Champion Billy Joe Saunders begins his reign with the opening defence of his title on Saturday 22 October at the Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff, exclusively live on BoxNation.

Saunders, 23-0 12 KO’s, joins a sensational five-title fight card that features Welsh hero Liam Williams defending his British Super-Welterweight title against undefeated Londoner Ahmet Patterson; Penge star Bradley Skeete making a mandatory defence of his British Welterweight crown against Manchester’s Shayne Singleton; Baggies bomber Tommy Langford challenging for the Vacant British Middleweight strap and Liverpool’s Tom Stalker making the first defence of his WBO European Lightweight title against Welshman Craig Evans.

Saunders had been adamant about wanting Gennady Golovkin to be his opponent after this upcoming fight, but Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs is heading for a December title fight in Madison Square Garden. Saunders is undefeated in his seven-and-a-half year career as a professional and won the WBO title last December against Andy Lee via majority decision. Saunders had not fought since then.
