Styles Discusses Possible Nakamura Rematch
AJ Styles thinks another match with Shinsuke Nakamura is inevitable.
In an interview with www.gamerevolution.com, the recently crowned WWE World Heavyweight Champion discussed the possibility of a rematch with Nakamura. Styles and Nakamura faced off for the IWGP Intercontinental Title back in January at Wrestle Kingdom. Both signed with WWE, and Nakamura currently is the NXT Champion.
"I don’t know when, or where, but it will happen eventually," Styles said when asked about the prospects of an eventual rematch with Nakamura. "The WWE, they’re smart, they know what they’re doing. And when that time comes, everybody will be aware of it, and they won’t wanna miss it."
Less than a month after losing to Nakamura at Wrestle Kingdom, Styles made his WWE debut as part of the Royal Rumble near the end of January. Nakamura wrapped up his obligations with NJPW at the end of January and made his NXT televised debut at NXT Takeover: Dallas. Nakamura is undefeated to date in NXT.
Styles, in addition to his current reign in WWE, is a former world champion for TNA and NWA, and also held the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in NJPW on a pair of occasions.
A rematch with Nakamura isn't the only potential matchup Styles is looking forward to. During the interview, he also discussed the prospects of a match against Randy Orton.
“We’re both on SmackDown! Live, so eventually that’s gonna happen," he said. "I think that’s gonna be huge, that’s gonna be fun. So there’s definitely guys on the SmackDown! roster that I haven’t had the opportunity to wrestle, and the RAW roster, and the NXT roster. I think there’s all these matches that people are gonna wanna see, it’s gonna happen eventually. And I’m one of ‘em. I want these matches to happen as well.”
