Lucha Underground Championship Changes Hands Twice At Ultima Lucha Cuatro: The Former Jack Swagger Becomes Champ

Ultima Lucha Cuatro promised a lot of twists and turns and gave just that in the main event the season four finale of Lucha Underground. 

The main event saw Pentagon Dark defeat Marty “The Moth” Martinez to win back the Lucha Underground title. The show seemed as if it would end with Pentagon having his hand raised in victory after a bloody war with Martinez. 

But as Pentagon was about to break Martinez’s arm after the match, Reklusa tried to save the former champion only to have Vampiro come in and help out Pentagon. Vampiro would later turn on Pentagon, who revealed that he had been working under a master. The ensuing attack left Pentagon lying in the middle of the ring and too hurt to even move. Jake Strong, the new Gift of the Gods champion, enters the ring and said he is going to cash in his shot at the Lucha Underground title by trading away his Gift of the Gods title.

Pentagon Dark (c) vs. Jake Strong: Lucha Underground Championship

Strong immediately starts going for the ankle lock and keeps it applied for about a minute. Pentagon is no longer responding to the referee’s commands and so the match is called and Strong is the new Lucha Underground Champion.

This is the second title Strong has won in Lucha Underground after making his debut earlier this year. Strong won the Gift of the Gods Championship on the October 24 episode and is the second titleholder this season to exchange his title for a shot at the Lucha Underground Championship.
