Michael Bisping Praises CM Punk

Just about everybody in the MMA universe has chimed in on former professional wrestler turned MMA fighter CM Punk’s UFC debut, now we can add current UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping to that list.

Biping recently sat down with the folks at Champions.co to discuss a plethora of topics and one of those topics was CM Punk.

“I never saw the fight, because I was in England, and I didn’t want to stay up until 5AM to watch it. I read the reports and I know how it went down. I’ve got to say, I respect CM Punk. I respect anyone that’s got the balls to step in there and fight, especially with everybody wanting him to lose. Every fighter in the sport wanted him to lose, they really did. He was in a terrible position, under immense pressure, and unfortunately for him, my fears about how the fight would likely go were correct. That’s an incredibly hard place to start your MMA career; in the UFC, on the main card of a PPV…that’s a tough ask for anybody” said the middleweight champion.

Bipsing is preparing to defend the middleweight championship for the first time at UFC 204 in a rematch with Dan Henderson, who defeated the England native by knockout at UFC 100.

CM Punk’s next move as a mixed martial arts fighter is not clear yet, but 0-1-0 fighter Mike Jackson has been making waves about wanting an opportunity to fight the former WWE Heavyweight Champion.
