Kell Brook To Fight On December Matchroom Boxing Card
Kell Brook is set to have one more match before a potential British showdown with longtime rival Amir Khan.
Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn announced that Brook will return to Sheffield, England to fight on December 8. Brook is set to face off against twice-beaten Australian fighter Michael Zerafa.
The fight is a stay-busy fight for Brook as Matchroom Boxing is still looking to make a fight between Brook and Khan. Matchroom is hoping to have the fight, one of the most anticipated non-title all-British boxing fights in recent years, take place in March 2019.
Brook has just fought since suffering two consecutive losses in 2016 and 2017. Brook lost the IBF welterweight title fight in 2017 to Errol Spence Jr. and has since then made the jump up to junior middleweight back in March. Brook knocked out Sergey Rabchenko in his last fight to win the WBC Silver title at 154 pounds. Brook is currently ranked in the top five on all four major governing bodies (WBA, WBO, WBC and IBF) at junior middleweight.
Zerafa is a 26-year-old from Australia who sports a 25-2 record as a pro. Zerafa has not lost a fight in three years when he got knocked out by Peter Quillin in 2015. Carrying an eight-fight win streak into the fight against Brook, Zerafa has held the IBF Pan Pacific middleweight, Commonwealth (British Empire) junior middleweight and WBA Oceania junior middleweight titles in that span. Zerafa is currently the No. 14 junior middleweight in the WBA rankings.
