Stephanie McMahon: “Moving Forward With Crown Jewel In Saudi Arabia Was An Incredibly Tough Decision”
Do you believe what Stephanie is saying or not?
WWE confirmed last week that their Saudi Arabia super-show ‘Crown Jewel’ is staying in Riyadh despite the controversy and negative attention that is shining on the country at the moment. WWE at one point removed the location of ‘Crown Jewel’ from the “events” page on WWE.com and tickets for the show were not made available until yesterday and all that stems from the mainstream media attention that Saudi Arabia has been getting and WWE being mixed into that because of ‘Crown Jewel’.
Nonetheless, tickets for the show went on sale yesterday and it was announced by the Chairman of the Saudi General Sports Authority that ‘Crown Jewel’ sold out the ‘King Saud University Stadium’ in three hours.
WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon provided a statement to ‘Sky News’ and told the site that with the murder of Jamal Khashoggi and Khashoggi’s death said to have been planned by Saudi officials, she said that it was a “tough decision” to keep the event in Saudi Arabia but at the end of the day it was a business decision.
“Moving forward with Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia was an incredibly tough decision, given that heinous act. But, at the end of the day, it is a business decision and, like a lot of other American companies, we decided that we’re going to move forward with the event and deliver Crown Jewel for all of our fans in Saudi Arabia and around the world.” Stephanie concluded.
There have been reports over the past week having to do with John Cena and Daniel Bryan “refusing ” to travel to Saudi Arabia for ‘Crown Jewel’. For more information on that, click here.
