Trish Stratus Says She And Lita Pitched The Idea Of Them Teaming Up Again Back In January
Trish also talks Ronda Rousey.
The original return match for WWE Hall Of Famers Trish Stratus and Lita was set to feature them teaming up against former multi-time WWE Women’s Champions Mickie James and Alexa Bliss. Due to Alexa suffering a concussion during a live event match where she teamed with Mickie James against Nia Jax and RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. Alexa was deemed unable to compete at ‘Evolution’ and her spot has been filled by former WWE Divas Champion Alicia Fox.
Prior to the 2018 Women’s Royal Rumble match, this will be the first time that Trish Stratus has wrestled since 2011 and for Lita it has been a year since she competed in a ring. The two of many pioneers of women’s wrestling are looking to dominate in their in-ring returns and ahead of WWE ‘Evolution’, Trish Stratus chatted with ‘Sun Sport’ and stated that she and Lita pitched the idea of a possible tag team reunion back in January around the time of the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble match.
“One of the ideas that we floated was like an idea of me and Amy being in the ring together because we thought it’d be kind of cool since we’re doing the Team Bestie thing, and I think fans are so good to meet when they see us two right now because we were rivals for so long and that’s what people know us for. So when the Royal Rumble happened, we kind of thought that would be a neat Team Bestie moment where we would team up and people would enjoy seeing us two legends doing our thing together.” Trish said. “Then we have a moment where people were like, ‘Oh, but I remember this rivalry.’ So we kind of always felt that and that never happened with the Royal Rumble, we weren’t able to get the same time in the ring. So maybe a crossover, who knows, maybe that crossover afterwards. But you never what they’re thinking but I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be a great way to approach it.”
Trish Stratus also shared her thoughts on UFC Hall Of Famer Ronda Rousey and how Ronda has fared thus far in her WWE run. Trish stated that Ronda is amazing and any questions that were pinned against Ronda as she made her wrestling in-ring debut have been answered.
“She’s amazing, I’m loving watching her in the ring, and what I love seeing, and this is a real pleasure – is watching someone from another world come in and just adapting so well.” Stratus explained. “I think it was a big question mark when she came in. There was kind of the question of, ‘Oh, how dare she come in here and just get these spots.’ She has translated really well and I believe it’s fueled by her passion. I’ve always said, like the number one line if you look back at all my interviews has been, if you love this business I mean that’s how I did it for so long with this crazy schedule. I think Ronda Rousey has that as well and so it’s translating just brilliantly and I’m really enjoying watching her. I mean I’ve never even thought about fighting her either. That’s even something someone had mentioned and I was like, ‘No, no, no, I’m just going to watch.'” Trish concluded.
As mentioned in the paragraphs above, Alexa Bliss has been pulled from WWE ‘Evolution’ and Fightful has a video posted here on the site where our own Sean Ross Sapp shares his thoughts on the situation.
