Coach Says Anderson Silva Can Fight Conor McGregor At 179 Pounds

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor recently revealed that he would like to fight former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva.

Rogerio Camoes is a coach for Silva and he says that Silva could fight McGregor at a catchweight of 179 pounds.

“If you really force him, Anderson Silva can make 179, 180 pounds,” Camoes said to Portal Do Vale Tudo. “I was in Los Angeles one month ago and we talked about his return. It was nice because he called me up the next day and said he had a fight lined up and was just waiting for an opponent. There was this McGregor thing, too. I was at UFC 200, when Anderson fought Daniel Cormier, I remember Jorge Guimares talking to me. I remember Jorge talking to Lorenzo Fertitta about matching up Anderson with Conor, if he defeated Cormier. McGregor was in his prime. I was by his side and he said that they thought it was a good fight, they were interested. That’s when it all began.”

Silva has never competed at less than 185 pounds in the UFC, while McGregor has previously fought once at 170 pounds.

It could be quite awhile before the potential super fight comes together, as McGregor and UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov are still awaiting punishments for the post-fight brawl at UFC 229.
