Rey Mysterio And The Miz Qualify For WWE World Cup
The World Cup field is set.
In the first qualifying bout at SmackDown 1000, Miz was once again the “two minute man.” At least this time, he was on the right side of the coin. Taking on Rusev in a WWE World Cup qualifying match, Miz scored a quick roll-up victory following a distraction by Aiden English.
If you blinked, you may have missed it.
In the second bout, Rey Mysterio made his in-ring return by picking up a victory over WWE United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. The bout was a back-and-forth contest, but Mysterio dialed up 619 before hitting a falling splash for the victory.
Nakamura will get his chance at revenge at WWE Starrcade as WWE announced that Nakamura and Mysterio will rematch on Nov. 24 with the United States Title on the line.
Mysterio and Miz join John Cena, Randy Orton, Kurt Angle, Seth Rollins, Dolph Ziggler, and Jeff Hardy as the eight participants in the World Cup.
The winner of the World Cup will be decided on Nov. 2 at WWE Crown Jewel.
