UFC 229 Prelims Do Big TV Ratings
The biggest fight in MMA history happened this past weekend as UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229.
While the event did massive numbers with the pay-per-view buy rate, it also did great numbers in the TV ratings department as well.
MMA Fighting is reporting that the four fight preliminary card, which aired live on Fox Sports 1, averaged 1,308,000 viewers. The four fights that comprised the preliminary card on Fox Sports 1 saw Jussier Formiga defeat Sergio Pettis, Vicente Luque defeat Jalin Turner, Aspenn Ladd defeat Tonya Evinger and Scott Holztman defeat Alan Patrick.
These four fights also streamed live on Fox Sports Go and Fox Now, bringing in an additional 26,819 viewers.
It was the featured fight between Pettis and Formiga that brought in the most viewers, with 1,557,000 fans checking out the flyweight division encounter.
A pre-fight show also aired on FS1 and that brought in 373,000 viewers, while a post-fight show on FS1 brought in a total of 364,000 viewers.
Up next for the UFC is UFC Fight Night Moncton on Fox Sports 1, with Anthony Smith and Volkan Oezdemir headlining the card in a light heavyweight division affair.
