King Mo Open To Fighting Shane Carwin

Muhammad Lawal has proven he isn't afraid to compete at heavyweight. He began his MMA career in the weight class and scored first-round knockouts over veterans Travis Wiuff and Mark Kerr before settling in at light heavyweight. Then in Feb. 2015, he returned to the division, this time in Bellator, defeating Cheick Kongo by unanimous decision.

After one fight back at light heavweight, Lawal went back to the division and won Rizin's Heavyweight Grand Prix at the end of 2015.

"King Mo" returned to 205 pounds in May, losing a close fight to Phil Davis by unanimous decision.

Mo doesn't have a fight scheduled, but threw out a name that raised some eyebrows.

"I heard Shane Carwin is looking to fight again," Lawal said on The MMA Hour. "I wouldn't mind fighting Shane Carwin, if he wants to come back," Lawal said, referring the former UFC heavyweight slugger who recently became a free agent. "I'll fight anybody, man. Moneyweight. So anybody that's available to fight, I'm down to fight."

Carwin, 41, retired from the sport in 2011 due to injuries, but recently announced he was returning to the sport. He was given his release from his UFC contract and is currently a free agent. The proposed fight is a certain size mismatch considering Carwin has to cut weight to make the heavyweight limit of 265 pounds. Lawal brushes off that notion and says it would remind him of the old-school days of the sport.

"Man, look at the old-school MMA fights back in the day," said Lawal. "I ain't hear Keith Hackney complaining about size. I don't care. At the end of the day, if I can make that weight, I'm going to fight you. Shane Carwin is the man. He has heavy hands. I sparred with him before and he touched me a few times, but it's a fight. I'm about getting paid."

Carwin hasn't announced what promotion he will be fighting for next and Bellator hasn't discussed whether they interested in the former UFC interim heavyweight champion.
