Scott Coker Says It Isn’t Likely That Eddie Alvarez Returns To Bellator MMA

Former Bellator MMA and UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez is currently a free agent, having finished up his contract with the UFC a few months ago.

Bellator MMA President Scott Coker was recently asked about Alvarez returning to the promotion and things do not seem good on that front.

“It doesn’t seem likely at this point,” Coker said to MMA Fighting

Alvarez spent over four years competing in Bellator MMA, having defeated the duo of Michael Chandler and Toby Imada to start both lightweight title reigns in the promotion.

Coker says that Bellator officials did meet with Alvarez, but not much came from it.

“I think that they had a conversation with Eddie and I’m not sure where it’s at,” Coker said. “But I don’t think it took a second, it wasn’t like it was something that was picking up any steam so I’m not sure.”

There has been no comment from Alvarez on what his fighting future is going to be, but UFC President Dana White did state a short time back that he would be happy for Alvarez no matter where the fighter signed. If Alvarez had returned to the company, it would’ve marked his first fight for the promotion since Bellator 106 in November of 2013.
