Nasrat Haqparast Talks UFC Moncton, Sparring With Middleweights & Quick Turnaround

Nasrat Haqparast returns to the Octagon this October at UFC Fight Night Moncton, facing Thibault Gouti in a lightweight division affair.

The lightweight prospect picked up a lot of social media followers after his last win over Marc Diakiese, which has lead to some fans comparing Haqparast to another UFC star.

“Yeah, like after the fight, I got like 50,000 followers. Like a lot of people, they are covering us now. A lot of people, they compare me to Kelvin Gastelum because we look very similar. Its funny because we both represent the same team at Kings Head, both (of us) in the same management. Its a little bit funny but we are both so past it, like fighting wise…we have the same styles, its crazy,” says Haqparast in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.

Haqparast is now looking to put together his first winning streak under the UFC banner when the lightweight competes at UFC Fight Night Moncton.

While Haqparast is definitely focused on UFC Fight Night Moncton, it hasn’t stopped the fighter from focusing on his next goal in the UFC.

“I would love to fight in December on the December card…UFC Toronto, but lets see…you never know. If I stay healthy until the fight and after the fight, I hope I stay healthy and maybe I get the call and Sean Shelby says if we get the victory and everything goes good and according to plan. Hopefully I get the opportunity to fight in Toronto, it would be amazing because of pay-per-view and I think a few of our guys from our team is going to fight there. So lets see, I hope to build…I don’t like this where fighters win and then they think they want off time. They take six months partying…of course you need to enjoy, but you never lose focus. I like to stay busy and I like to train hard and being in camp, ready for the cut,” says Haqparast.

UFC Fight Night Moncton takes place on Saturday, October 27 from the Moncton Events Centre in Moncton, new Brunswick, Canada with Volkan Oezdemir and Anthony Smith headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
