Tyron Woodley Willing To Fight Conor McGregor, If He Wins At UFC 229

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor is back in action at UFC 229, challenging UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for the gold.

UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley is up for a fight against McGregor, but only if he is victorious at UFC 229.

“I’ll be there. I’ll be working the desk,” Woodley said on The Hollywood Beatdown. “I would think that if Khabib’s really about that action, he’s going to do what he says and it’s going to be really tough for Conor to have any lead in that arm to throw that knockout punch in the fourth or fifth round, so I would say Khabib [wins]. But just for selfish purposes, if Conor wins, then the only fight that makes sense is for him to fight me. Try to get a third belt.”

If the bout were to come together in the future, it would give McGregor a chance to become the first three division champion in UFC history.

Woodley has a prediction for a potential fight with McGregor, which is that their bout would end with the Irishman getting smashed.

“Conor thought he wanted smoke and then he realized he really didn’t,” Woodley said. “I would smash him. He’s too little. He’s got one punch. What fighter have I ever fought that’s been able to beat me with one tool?”

UFC 229 takes place on Saturday, October 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
