Charlotte Flair Shares What She Has Learned From Her Father, And Talks Embracing Negative And Positive Fan Reactions
“The Queen” speaks.
Last Sunday at WWE’s ‘Hell In A Cell’ PPV Charlotte Flair lost the SmackDown Live Women’s Championship when she was defeated by her former best-friend turned bitter rival Becky Lynch. The following Tuesday on the blue-brand exclusive show, Charlotte and Becky exchanged a few harsh words and eventually took the fight to one another once again as they are set for another battle in-which the SmackDown Live Women’s Title will be on the line at WWE Super Show-Down on October 6th.
Ahead of that bout which is two weeks away, Charlotte is focusing on the upcoming string of house shows including Monday’s show which will be held in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Charlotte was interviewed by ‘The Gazette’ to promote the live event and she spoke about a plethora of topics including learning from her Hall Of Famer father Ric Flair.
“I think the biggest thing with my dad is he just instilled in me the importance of hard work,” she said. “Whether it’s a live event in Colorado Springs or WrestleMania in front of 150,000 people, you give it 100 percent every night. If you believe in yourself, the fans will also believe in you. My dad has never apologized for who he is. He embraces it. I think that’s very important to do.”
Charlotte went on to discuss the fan reactions that she receives. There are times when Charlotte is praised and there are times when she is booed. Currently, Charlotte has been receiving mixed reactions as her feud with the new SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Becky Lynch intensifies. Flair stated during this interview that she has learned to embrace the reactions whether they are positive or negative.
“What I learned from that fan reaction [Her WWE main roster debut in 2015] was to embrace it,” she says. “It allowed me to become very successful as a bad guy. In order to have your best good guy, you have to be that bad guy.”
