Conor McGregor Says He Returned To Shut Nurmagomedov Up, Calls Him A Fanboy
Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor is back after a near two year layoff to face UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for the gold in the main event of UFC 229.
The former dual UFC champion says that he is returning to the Octagon now for one reason, which is to shut Nurmagomedov up.
“I came back for the love of this. To come back and shut this man up. A little rat, a little weasel. … This I am going to truly love. Putting a bad, bad beating on this little glass-jaw rat,” says McGregor during the UFC 299 press conference.
McGregor was last seen in the Octagon at UFC 205, where he defeated Eddie Alvarez to win the UFC Lightweight Title.
Both champion and challenger have taken shots at each other since their rivalry began, but McGregor insists that Nurmagomedov was a fan of his before becoming a rival.
“The man was a fanboy. He bought t-shirts of mine. He supported the cause. You little fan-boy. You little fan-boy (expletive),” says McGregor.
UFC 229 takes place on Saturday, October 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
