Bobby Lashley On Facing Brock Lesnar: “It’s A Natural Thing That Needs To Happen”

Despite similar backgrounds and career paths, Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar have never squared off.

Appearing on The Big J Show (KRSQ Hot 101.9), Lashley was asked whether or not he was disappointed that he’s never stepped into the ring, or the cage, with Lesnar.

“I wasn’t so much bummed, I was more pissed off because that’s been a natural thing ever since I came to the WWE. There’s always been that comparison and and our paths have never crossed. Everybody asks me about Brock and I tell them the same thing, ‘I really….’ — I met Brock this time, but I’ve crossed paths with Brock two times and it’s just kind of embarrassing, like a head nod,” said Lashley. “We don’t even really know each other like that. I’m good friends with Paul Heyman and I talk with Paul quite a bit, but never really did anything with Brock. It’s a natural thing that needs to happen. I’m to the point where if I post anything on social media, I’ll have a handful of posts that say, ‘You need to go after Brock.’ I’m just kind of waiting for it to happen. That fight feel is going to be electric and something that needs to happen.”

Lesnar returned to WWE this past Sunday at Hell in a Cell and has been booked for Crown Jewel on Nov. 2. After that, his WWE future is up in the air. He’s still training for a UFC return and potential fight with Daniel Cormier in 2019. Lashley stated that he has no problem meeting Lesnar in a cage, if that’s what it comes down to.

“To me, it doesn’t matter. If it was fighting, I’d get back into camp and train. I would love that fight. At the end of the day, we’re all trying to feed our families and kids,” said Lashley. “Either way, it’s a huge fight. It’s a huge fight in WWE because it’s a main event WrestleMania match. If you put it in UFC or Bellator, it’s a main event MMA fight. Wherever you bring the fight it’s a big deal and I’m 100 percent down for it either way.”

Lashley last fought in MMA in October 2016, defeating Josh Appelt by submission at Bellator 162. Lashley went 15-2 in his MMA career. Lesnar is 5-3 (1 NC) in his MMA career.
