Report: Brennan Ward Injured, Off Bellator 207, May Be Retiring

Brennan Ward has suffered an injury and has been pulled from an upcoming bout against Andre Fialho at Bellator 207 according to MMA Junkie.

There is no word just what the nature of the injury suffered by Ward or just how long the competitor is expected to be out of action for. Fialho is expected to remain on the Bellator 207 card at this time, as Bellator officials are seeking a replacement opponent for him to fight. The promotion has about a month to find a replacement for Ward, as Bellator 207 is set for October 12.

Ward may not just be missing the fight, but his professional MMA career may be at its conclusion because MMA Junkie is also reporting that Ward is retiring. It should be noted that while a report says Ward is retiring, no statement has been given by the fighter on the future of his professional MMA career.

Fialho (9-1-0) has won three of four in Bellator MMA competition, with those wins coming over the trio of Manuel Meraz, Rick Reger and AJ Matthews. Fialho has suffered just a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came to Chidi Njokuani at Bellator 167. Fialho also returns to action for the first time in well over a year, as the fighters last bout took place in July of 2017.

Bellator 207 takes place on Friday, October 12 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut with Matt Mitrione and Ryan Bader headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
