Kurt Angle Confirms That WWE Is Returning To Saudi Arabia This Year

Kurt confirms the news.

This past April coming out of WrestleMania 34, WWE traveled to Saudi Arabia to host the ‘Greatest Royal Rumble’ event. Besides the event being a lucrative one for the WWE, it drew tons of criticism and backlash because of Saudi Arabian traditions, customs and laws that prevent women from partaking in certain activities as men which resulted in WWE’s female superstars not being a part of the show. Laws and traditions in Saudi Arabia that have to do with social gatherings or events, much like the ‘Greatest Royal Rumble’ do not allow for women to be around non-kin men and is extremely rare if it happens. Companies in Saudi Arabia would even have to go the extra mile of creating an all-female environment if they were to hire women. At the ‘Greatest Royal Rumble’, WWE required that one woman be a part of each group that bought tickets for the event.

Over the past number of weeks the talks of another Saudi Arabia show happening have picked up as Dave Meltzer noted in his most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE has their eyes on a November 2nd date for a return to Saudi Arabia. If the event takes place on that date it will take place just a few days after WWE’s first-ever all-women’s PPV ‘Evolution’ and although it has not been officially confirmed by the sports-entertainment company that a return to Saudi Arabia is set in stone, the on-screen GM of Monday Night RAW Kurt Angle did it for them during his latest Q&A session on Facebook when he was asked when is the next time that Braun Strowman is going to sport the championship belt that earned after winning the 50-man Greatest Royal Rumble match.

“I don’t know. But I’m sure they will when we return to Saudi Arabia this year.” Angle noted.

During the Q&A, Angle also provided advice to a Facebook user who wrote that he had a friend who is ashamed to be a huge WWE fan and Angle responded with the following:

“Shane SHOULD be ashamed of being a WWE fan….we are all ashamed to be fans…but we can’t help it. Because we are “pathetic”. We are “bottom feeders”. But, I’d rather be an honest, pathetic bottom feeder than a lying closet watcher that watches WWE and says that they don’t. Because in reality, we ALL are fans of WWE to some extent. And if you can’t admit it, then you’re lying to everyone including yourself.”

The WWE Hall Of Famer also gave his take on Drake Maverick being the new manager of the Authors Of Pain and if he thinks that Drake will be more active in the ring now. To read the full Q&A session, head over to Kurt Angle’s personal Facebook page.
