Jerry “The King” Lawler Says He’s Had His Car Tires Flattened, Windows Broken And Was Stabbed During His Wrestling Career

Jerry Lawler looks back.

WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler is keeping himself busy in the squared circle at the age of 68-years old. Lawler turns 69 in two months and has no plans on hanging up his wrestling boots as he competes in the ring three to four times a month. Lawler will be in action tomorrow night for the ‘Universal Championship Wrestling’ promotion when they host their ‘A Tribute Fit For A King’ show which is to honor the career of Jerry Lawler.

The show is being held at the ‘Owensboro Sportscenter’ in Owensboro, Kentucky and also scheduled to appear at the event is Jillian Hall, “Buff” Bagwell, former 3-time World Tag Team Champion Rob Conway and UFC Hall Of Famer Ken Shamrock. To promote the show, Jerry Lawler spoke with the ‘Messenger-Inquirer’ about staying active in the ring and Lawler also recalled some of the most dangerous moments that he has been a part of throughout his 48 years in the sport of wrestling.

“I was stabbed once,” Lawler said. “I had my windshield broken by a brick. I had all four tires flattened. I once made a woman so mad I thought she was going to throw her baby at me.”

The former ten-time NWA Southern Heavyweight Champion was asked to compare today’s presentation of pro wrestling versus when he was in the prime of his career. Lawler admitted that today’s version of the sport is far more successful but he does prefer when things in the business were more spontaneous.

“Wrestling is more successful now than ever,” Lawler said. “You can’t argue with success. But, personally, I think the matches were more fun when they were more spontaneous.”

On top of Lawler keeping himself busy, he has also been dealing with the passing of his son Brian Christopher Lawler.
