Zack Gibson Looks At Pete Dunne As An Example Of Not Needing To Be A Larger Wrestler In Order To Find Success
Zack gives props to his rival.
Liverpool’s self-proclaimed number one Zack Gibson will be in action today at the ‘National Exhibition Centre’ in Birmingham, England for day-two of the second set of NXT U.K. TV tapings. Gibson splashed onto the NXT U.K. scene when he emerged victorious in this year’s WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament. Gibson went on to challenge the reigning champion Pete Dunne for the strap but was unsuccessful in removing Dunne from his throne.
Gibson fell short in winning the WWE United Kingdom Championship once again at the NXT TV tapings prior to TakeOver: Brooklyn IV. Although Gibson and Dunne are rivals on-screen, Gibson recently used Pete Dunne as an example in a positive connotation when he spoke to Mirror Sport. “Liverpool’s #1” pointed out that he is not heavy set or packs a lot of muscle but he added that neither does Pete Dunne and Dunne has found a great deal of success standing at 5’10 and weighing 205 pounds.
“If you look at the biggest grossing fight in history, it was Floyd Mayweather versus Conor McGregor . That’s a fact and they both weigh around 150 lbs.” Gibson said. “Look at Pete Dunne, he’s shown that you don’t have to be the biggest guy to find success. That said, for me, I have chosen to get in the gym because I want to be as strong as possible. That, to me, is more important than being chiselled or having a six-pack,” he shared. “I have to work really hard because I’m naturally skinny. I think God wanted me to be an accountant.”
As mentioned, the NXT U.K. TV tapings are commencing in a few hours and there will also be a first-ever NXT U.K. Women’s Champion crowned. To take a look at the spoilers from yesterday’s tapings, head over to Fightful’s “spoilers” article.
