Jake Ellenberger Retires From MMA After TKO Loss To Bryan Barberena At UFC Lincoln

It’s not been an easy go of things for Jake Ellenberger during his last UFC run, and he’s calling it quits.

The UFC mainstay Ellenberger announced his retirement in front of his home crowd at UFC Lincoln, after Bryan Barberena made short work of him during their main card bout. You can see an excerpt of our live coverage below.

Round One: The round begins with Ellenberger attacking Barberena with a combo, the fighters clinch and Ellenberger throws a two punch combination. The fighters continue exchanging a series of leg kicks, Barberena drops Ellenberger with a multiple punch combination. Ellenberger scrambles to his feet and Barberena drops him with a right, Barberena pounces on him with more strikes until the referee jumps in.

Ellenberger retires with an MMA record of 31-15, having lost his last four fights, and on a 2-9 skid since July 2013. He boasts an impressive resume with wins over Nate Marquardt, Matt Brown, Josh Koscheck, Jay Hieron, Jake Shields, Diego Sanchez, Mike Pyle, Pat Healy, and Fightful alumni Sean Pierson. Ellengberger has also been a part of the UFC roster for nearly a decade, joining the brand in 2009.
