Tevin Farmer Signs With Matchroom Boxing, To Fight On October 20 DAZN Card

Tevin Farmer has been added to Matchroom Boxing USA’s growing stable of fighters competing on DAZN.

Farmer, the current IBF super featherweight champion, has signed a multi-fight co-promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and with Lou DiBella and has his first fight already secured. Farmer’s first world title defense will be on October 20 at the TD Garden in Boston.

On October 20, Farmer will face James Tennyson in what will be the third world title fight on the Boston card streamed in the United States on DAZN. The card will be headlined by a WBO middleweight title fight between Billy Joe Saunders and Demetrius Andrade.

Although Farmer’s fight has not been officially announced, Farmer tweeted that he would be fighting on the October 20 card. Farmer has also been announced by Matchroom Boxing to be in a press conference announcing the signing and his next fight.

The 28-year-old Farmer won the world title, his first as a pro, earlier this month when he traveled to Australia and scored a wide unanimous decision win over former featherweight champion Billy Dib. The IBF title at the time was vacated after Kenichi Ogawa was stripped of the title for failing a drug test after his December 2017 win over Farmer.

Tennyson, the IBF’s No. 7 super featherweight, is on a six-fight win streak, and is one of Europe’s top boxers at 130 pounds. In his last fight, a fifth-round stoppage win over Martin Joseph Ward, Tennyson not only retained the WBA International title, but also won the Commonwealth and European titles.

The October 20 card will also feature unified women’s lightweight champion Katie Taylor defending her WBA and IBF titles against current WBO women’s featherweight champion Cindy Serrano.
