TD Garden Set To Host Saunders vs. Andrade, Taylor vs. Serrano On October 20

Matchroom Boxing is moving ahead with a major boxing card at the TD Garden with two world title fights.

In a press release, the card, set to take place on October 20, will be headlined by Billy Joe Saunders vs. Demetrius Andrade with Saunders’ WBO middleweight title. The card will also be streamed in the United States on the DAZN platform set to launch in September.

Saunders and Andrade were originally set to fight in Andrade’s hometown of Providence, Rhode Island, but due to not securing a venue for the fight and thus the fight was then moved to Boston. This will be Saunders’ U.S. debut and overall fourth title defense as Andrade, a former 154-pound world champion, will attempt to win his first world title as a middleweight after recently signing with promoter Eddie Hearn. Hearn won the purse bid to have the title fight be streamed on DAZN.

Also announced for the card is Katie Taylor’s unified WBA and IBF women’s lightweight title defense against Cindy Serrano. Serrano, the current WBO women’s featherweight champion, will move up in weight to face arguably the toughest challenge of her career. The fight was originally set to take place in Chicago on October 6, but has now since been moved to be one of the key undercard fights for Saunders vs. Andrade.

The card will also feature fighters Mark Deluca, Danny O’Connor, Niall Kennedy all competing in separate fights. The first press conference to officially announce the card will take place in Boston on August 24.
