Renee Young Wants To Keep Doing Commentary

Renee Young’s commentary debut on Raw was met with rave reviews

Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Young stated that she would love to do more commentary.

“All I could think afterwards, and not even afterwards, during. You know when you’re in the moment of something happening and don’t really get a chance to absorb it all — I guess during a 3 hour show you do get a chance to absorb it — all I could think was, ‘Man, do I want to keep doing this.’ It felt so much fun. It felt right to me. I loved that. It was great.”

Raw wasn’t the first time Young had a chance to sit in the booth. A week before Raw, she sat next to Beth Phoenix and Michael Cole to call the Mae Young Classic. Back in 2013, she did commentary work for NXT. And from 2014 to 2015, she served as the lead color commentator on Superstar.

Those experiences helped prepare her for Monday.

“When I did commentary years ago at NXT, I was so new working at this company. I really didn’t know what I was doing. Now I’ve had time to get more reps down at the Performance Center and at the kick-off shows. Now I have a better idea this time around keeping my voice down and trying not to get too geeked out about the whole thing.”

Young went on to say that she felt “oddly calm” all day and credited Cole and Corey Graves for making her feel comfortable.
