Report: Golden Boy MMA Files Application To Run Event This November

It looks like the Golden Boy MMA debut is one step closer to becoming a reality because a report from MMA Fighting is stating that Oscar De La Hoya filed an application last month with the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) for an event that to be held on November 24 from The Forum in Inglewood, California.

The event is expected to be headlined by a third bout between longtime rivals Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell, who are both former UFC Light Heavyweight Champions.

MMA Fighting is also reporting that the application states that the event is going to be a Ring TV pay-per-view card.

CSAC Executive Director Andy Foster has said that the event is expected to be approved by the CSAC, although a time frame as to when that approval is coming isn’t known at this time.

Liddell is presumably going to be returning to action for the first time in just under a decade, while Ortiz is back in action for the first time in just under two years.

There is no word yet on how many more fights are going to be added to Golden Boy MMA’s debut event or which fighters have been contacted to compete.
