Ronda Rousey Commenting On The Reactions She Has Received From The WWE Crowd: “I Really Was Not Expecting It At All”

Ronda Rousey makes the rounds ahead of SummerSlam.

The first-ever UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey has officially been with the WWE coming up on eight months now. This upcoming Sunday she will be walking into her second RAW Women’s Championship match this summer as she is planning to knock the current champion Alexa Bliss off of her pedestal

SummerSlam weekend will be an eventful one for Rousey and not only because of her RAW Women’s Championship match, but also because ‘Mile 22’ which she is starring in alongside Marc Wahlberg releases to the world on August 17th. To promote ‘Mile 22’ and the SummerSlam PPV, Rousey spoke with the ‘Asbury Park Press’ and during the interview Ronda went over the crowd reactions that she has been receiving from the WWE faithful and stated that she has not been expecting such positive reactions.

“I really was not expecting it at all,” Rousey said of receiving the crowd’s support. “The WWE Universe is very protective of their love and their art and they don’t want people flippantly coming in and disrespecting it and trying to capitalize off of it. I wanted the WWE Universe to know that this is something that is just as important to me as it is to them, and this isn’t a ‘get rich quick’ scheme for me. This is something I really, really care about and want to contribute to. Like, I really, really want the WWE to be better off because I was part of it, and I would love for that to come across to the fans as well, and there have been times where you have to kind of play the Dark Knight and do what’s best and not what makes you look best.” She explained. “But I’ve been fortunate to have those things be aligned, at least as of late, you know? So it’s been a very, very pleasant surprise, and if they all turn on me and boo me tomorrow, I at least hope that I will be entertaining them in the process.”

On top of the RAW Women’s Championship match at SummerSlam, there are eleven matches scheduled for the show and to take a look at what else is on tap for WWE’s “Biggest Party Of The Summer”, click here.
