Glenn “Kane” Jacobs Credits Daniel Bryan, Ric Flair And The Undertaker For Bringing Buzz To His Mayoral Campaign
Jacobs is on the move after being elected mayor.
The man known as “The Big Red Machine” is now known as the Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. After his year-long campaign Glenn “Kane” Jacobs was elected Mayor of Knox County as he beat out his Democrat opponent Linda Haney with a 2-1 lead which was all that was needed to decide that Jacobs was the new Mayor of the city.
Jacobs has been making the rounds on the media circuit since being elected Mayor as he has spoken with Rolling Stone and various other news outlets. Jacobs will be sworn in on September 1st and ahead of officially becoming the next Knox County Mayor, Jacobs joined Bob Ley on ESPN’s ‘Outside The Lines’ and discussed how the wrestling side of his lfe contributed to the buzz around his Mayoral campaign.
“They did help a lot. I knew that I was going to have to run an unconventional campaign. So people like Daniel Bryan, Ric Flair and of course The Undertaker coming to town really created a lot of buzz and [I] was able to get my name out there in a different way and, huge crowds so it really did help.” He said.
While on the topic of sports, Jacobs was asked about his experience working with MLB All-Century Team member Pete Rose and stated that if Pete would have decided to trade in his cleats for wrestling boots he would have made a great heel for the WWE.
“That, I actually worked with Pete a number of times, and one of my most prized mementos from my WWE career is a bat that he tried to hit me with–luckily he didn’t and he signed for me and I have that hanging in my office and its a treasure for me.” Jacobs shared.
The last time that Glenn Jacobs competed in a WWE ring was at the ‘Extreme Rules’ PPV on July 15th. Jacobs’ partner in his last match was Daniel Bryan who recently learned who he’ll be clashing in the ring with at WWE’s “Biggest Party Of The Summer”.
