Dave Bautista Threatens To Quit ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ If James Gunn’s Script Is Not Used
Bautista makes a strong claim.
Former 4-time World Heavyweight Champion Dave Bautista has taken a break from the squared circle to pursue a career in acting and has done well for himself. He has starred in a number of films including ‘Blade Runner 2049’, ‘Escape Plan 2: Hades’ and he’ll also be in the new Avengers film that is set to release in 2019. Another film that has gained Bautista notoriety in the land of Hollywood is his portrayal of the character “Drax” in the ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ movie series.
‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ is set for its third installment with an expected 2020 release date. The movie may have to go on without Dave Bautista as he stated during an interview with ‘ShortList’ that he will be quitting the film if James Gunn’s script is not used. James Gunn was fired last month after tweets of his surfaced from years ago which displayed a series of controversial comments which were so severe that he was fired from the ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ production. James Gunn took to Twitter once the tweets began to make the rounds and he explained why he sent out the tweets that he did.
As mentioned above, Dave Bautista stated during an interview that the film will have to continue production without him if they are not going to use the script that James Gunn wrote up.
“Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man,” he said. “I spoke to Chris Pratt the day after it happened and he’s a bit religious so he wanted time to pray and figure it out, but I was more like: f*ck this. This is bulls**t. James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met. Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”
Bautista is the not the only former WWE superstar making waves in Hollywood as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was recently named the highest paid actor in the history of Forbes’ ‘Celebrity 100’ list.
