Nicco Montano A Historically Huge Underdog Against Valentina Shevchenko
UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Nicco Montano and #1 ranked Valentina Shevchenko are set to clash for the gold this September at UFC 228.
The champion is going to be defending the gold for the first time at the event and she comes into the bout as a historically huge underdog.
Bet DSI Sportsbook has posted early odds for the title fight, with Montano listed at a +360 underdog and Shevchenko is listed at a -550 favorite. For those who aren’t very familiar with betting odds, a bet of $100 for Montano would win the person a profit of $360, while betting the same amount on Shevchenko would give a profit of $18.18 according to MMA Junkie.
These odds are historical because according to Bet DSI Sportsbook claims that the next closest odds for a defending UFC champion was when welterweight champion Matt Serra fought Georges St. Pierre in a rematch at UFC 83. Serra came in at +430 at fight time, but was much lower prior to fight day (that number wasn’t revealed).
UFC 228 takes place on Saturday, September 8 from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
