Stipe Miocic Not Happy With Brock Lesnar Appearing At UFC 226, Wants Rematch With DC
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic lost the gold to Daniel Cormier via first round knockout in the main event of UFC 226.
WWE Universal Champion and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar got into a physical confrontation with DC after the fight, a situation that Miocic wasn’t very fond of.
“It was a sh*t show and it was disrespectful,” Miocic said to ESPN. “I didn’t think that was what the UFC was all about. I thought they were going to interview me [after the fight] and I was going to ask for a rematch. When Brock came in, I said, ‘I’m out of here, I don’t need this circus.’ How can you give a guy a title shot who hasn’t fought in over two years, is suspended, and his last fight is a no-contest because he was taking PEDs?”
UFC President Dana White did say that Lesnar was next for the new UFC Heavyweight Champion, as the two are expected to meet sometime in 2019.
Miocic isn’t happy that Lesnar is potentially getting the next title shot because he would like a rematch with DC.
“I want a title shot. I deserve it,” Miocic said. “[Lesnar] hasn’t fought in how long? For him to get a title shot, as I get thrown to the side? It just seems like they are desperate for pay-per-views. I cleaned out the division. I defended it more than anyone, and you’re gonna tell me I don’t deserve a chance to get it back? Get out of here. Kiss my ass if you don’t think I deserve that.”
It has been over a decade since a former UFC Heavyweight Champion got an immediate rematch for the title after losing it, with the last former champion to do so being Andrei Arlovski, who lost the strap to Tim Sylvia at UFC 59 and got an immediate rematch at UFC 61.
