Vasiliy Lomachenko Claims He’ll Be Fighting By August
Vasiliy Lomachenko has been described as an incredibly unique and gifted boxer, but his latest claim could prove that he may be even more.
Only a few weeks after undergoing surgery for a torn labrum, Lomachenko posted a video of him throwing punches on Instagram with the caption indicating that he is going to be good to fight on August 25, which would be potentially a full three months before anyone thought he could fight again.
August 25 is the date of an upcoming Top Rank Boxing on ESPN card in Arizona that was originally penciled in as Lomachenko’s first WBA lightweight title defense. That was before Lomachenko had surgery to fix the labrum he tore during his fight against Jorge Linares back in May on an ESPN card at Madison Square Garden. Lomachenko knocked out Linares in the 10th round to win the WBA title, his third world title in three different weight classes. The surgery was originally going to keep him away from training until October with the expectation that he would fight on a December Top Rank Boxing card.
The August 25 card was then shuffled to feature two world title fights with Isaac Dogboe defending his WBO super bantamweight title and Raymundo Beltran headlining the card in his first WBO lightweight title defense.
