AJ Styles & Shinsuke Nakamura Having Their Sixth One-On-One Match In 2018 Tomorrow Night On SmackDown Live
The rivalry continues.
AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura have been at one another’s necks since the conclusion of their WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 34 which saw Shinsuke deliver a post-match low-blow and beat down to AJ Styles. That moment led to AJ willing to do anything to get his hands on Shinsuke Nakamura and he did just that when he put his WWE Championship on the line once again against Shinsuke at the ‘Greatest Royal Rumble’ event where Styles retained the title via double-count out.
The two former IWGP Heavyweight Champions met once again at ‘Backlash’ in May and to avoid the result that occurred at the ‘Greatest Royal Rumble’, the match was converted into a NO-DQ match but both AJ and Shinsuke connected with low-blows simultaneously and that match ended in a double-count out as well.
Last month at the ‘Money In The Bank’ PPV, AJ Styles put his WWE Championship on the line against Shinsuke Nakamura in a ‘Last Man Standing’ match. Styles emerged victorious in that bout and may have thought that would be the end of he and Nakamura clashing but that is not the case as it was announced by WWE that tomorrow night on SmackDown Live AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura will do battle once again in their sixth one-on-one match in 2018.
Shinsuke Nakamura has been out of action following being bitten by a police during a routine security check at a live event in Bakersfield, CA. While in Japan for back-to-back night house shows, Shinsuke was interviewed by Tokyo Sports and stated that he has a recovery timetable of two weeks until he was either cleared by WWE or he would be returning to the ring.
Following his showdown with AJ Styles tomorrow night, Nakamura will have the opportunity to capture his first piece of championship gold on the main roster as he will challenge Jeff Hardy at ‘Extreme Rules’ for the WWE United States Championship.
