Cody Shares That He’ll Be Taking Time Off From Wrestling To Let His Body Heal
He says he will see everyone at ‘All In’.
Last night at NJPW’s G1 Special event Cody had his sights set on dethroning his former rival Kenny Omega and ending Kenny’s embryotic reign as IWGP Heavyweight Champion. Both Kenny Omega and Cody put each other through hell and back as Cody had his opportunity to bring the pain to Omega by suplexing him off the top of a ladder.
“The Cleaner” returned the favor by setting up Cody for a powerbomb but Omega did not let Cody off easy by dropping him off on the mat and instead sent Cody flying to the outside onto a table that did not break and Cody ended up ricocheting off the table–falling onto the floor.
The seven-month rivalry between the two Bullet Club “leaders” came to a head and the end of their bout saw Kenny Omega delivering a number of “V-Triggers” and hitting his signature “One Winged Angel” finishing maneuver retain the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and to put an end to he and Cody’s storied rivalry.
Following the match Kenny Omega proceeded to extend his hand in peace to Cody in which Cody accepted. As Omega exited the ring with his championship on his shoulder and The Young Bucks by his side, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa and King Haku of Bullet Club made their way out to the stage to seemingly celebrate with Omega and The Bucks’. As the camera panned behind Omega the facial expression of Tama Tonga went numb and Tama along with his brother and father attacked Kenny and The Young Bucks.
Cody made his way down to the ring and was offered the opportunity to join in on the beat down but instead Cody tried to fight off Tama, Tanga Loa and Haku and he suffered the same fate that his brethren did. After a hellacious bout, failing to capture the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and being on the receiving end of the Tongan family assault, Cody shared on Twitter that he will be taking a little time off from the squared circle to let his body heal and focus on another project for the time being until ‘All In’.
