Cody Shares The Thoughts That Were Running Through His Mind After Winning The ROH World Championship

Cody is looking to make history.

“The American Nightmare” Cody has a busy summer ahead of him as tonight at Ring Of Honor’s ‘Best In The World’ PPV he will have the opportunity to win his second ROH World Championship in a Triple-Threat match involving his fellow Bullet Club member Marty Scurll and the champion Dalton Castle. Next Saturday Cody’s rivalry with Kenny Omega will peak as the two titans will clash inside of the ‘Cow Palace’ in San Francisco and the match will be for Kenny’s newly-won IWGP Heavyweight Championship. On September 1st, Cody and The Young Bucks will be presenting their self-financed ‘All In’ show which sold out in under thirty minutes and on that show, Cody will be challenging Nick Aldis for the very title that his Hall Of Fame father Dusty Rhodes was synonymous with–the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.

Prior to Cody’s journey of collecting gold which kick-starts tonight he was interviewed by ESPN and reflected on the ‘Best In The World’ PPV as it was at this very event last year on June 23rd where Cody won the first World Championship of his career by defeating Christopher Daniels.

“The feeling when Cary Silkin handed me the title and I’m on my knees, I remember telling myself, ‘Stay here.’ I said it out loud. ‘Stay here’,” Cody said. “And what I meant was, take it in. You could never do anything else, tomorrow you could wake up and your legs don’t work. I got that one, that world title run. Champion or not, that moment now that I’m thinking about it, it was a complete moment of vindication.”

A coverage post of ‘Best In The World’ will be posted later tonight and to get ready for the show, head over to Fightful’s “events” section to take a look at what’s on tap for the PPV.
