Sean O’Malley Looking To Return This October
Sean O’Malley was last seen in action at UFC 222, where the rising contender picked up a decision victory over Andre Soukhamthath.
The bantamweight suffered a torn ligament in his foot that required surgery, but now the fighter is aiming to be back in the Octagon by October.
“I was supposed to headline that card; I was so excited for that,” O’Malley said on The Joe Rogan Experience MMA Show. “I think next fight is going to be Oct. 6 in Vegas, the pay-per-view. Hopefully (I’ll) get on that card, but after that, hopefully headline my own. I’d like to fight two more times before the end of the year. (I’m) healing; everything is going good. So I’m hoping Oct. 6, and then maybe November, December.”
If O’Malley does indeed return at the October UFC pay-per-view event, it could mean an appearance at UFC 229.
An appearance at UFC 229 seems plausible, especially since the fighter’s last X-ray showed the injured foot has been healing well.
“I got an X-ray last time and they said, ‘Everything looks good, come back in four weeks and we’ll clear you,’” O’Malley said. “I know how my foot feels. There’s days where it’s really sore and there’s days where it’s like, ‘Dude, it’s good.’ I feel about 80, 85 percent.”
O’Malley is currently 2-0-0 under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over the aforementioned Soukhamthath and Terrion Ware.
