PFL Exec Ray Sefo Calls It A Career

Professional Fighters League (PFL) President Of Fight Operations Ray Sefo has decided to announce his retirement from combat sports.

The PFL head appeared on The MMA Hour, where he discussed the decision to hang up his gloves.

“If I didn’t fight again by May of this year, especially when the season starts, there’s just no time to put in a camp,” Sefo said. “I thought come May, if nothing happens, then I’m done.”

Sefo has competed a total of 89 times as a pro boxer, pro kickboxer and as a professional MMA fighter, with the majority of his success coming in the kickboxing ring.

Even though the executives combat sports career has come to an end, one thing Sefo is grateful for is to continue being a part of the sports he loves.

“I thank God every day that I get to do what I love to do and what I’m passionate about,” Sefo said. “Back then I never really saw myself sitting here. But I can tell you that I thank the good lord every day that I do what I do.”

A now retired Sefo fought some of the best that the combat sports world has to offer, including Mirko Cro Cop, Tyrone Spong, Gokhan Saki, Peter Aerts, Semmy Schilt, Melvin Manhoef, Gary Goodridge, Marvin Eastman, Bob Sapp, Ernesto Hoost, Gilbert Yvel, Mark Hunt, Jerome Le Banner, Valentijn Overeem and more.
