June 23 O2 Arena Card To Continue Despite Billy Joe Saunders Injury
Despite WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders suffering another injury that has delayed his upcoming title defense against Martin Murray, the June 23 show at the O2 Arena he was supposed to headline will go on as planned.
Saunders tweeted that the event will continue with promoter Frank Warren retweeting Saunders' statement.
Even without the WBO world title not being contested on the card, the event still has a number of young British stars competing in big fights. Highly-touted prospect Daniel Dubois will be fighting for his fourth title in his seventh pro fight when he fights Tom Little for the vacant BBBofC heavyweight title. Also on the card is rising contender Anthony Yarde, who holds the WBO Intercontinental and European light heavyweight titles, facing an opponent to be named later.
Here is the full card for the June 23 card that is still subject to change.
- Ohara Davies vs. Josh Leather
- Darryll Williams (c) vs. Lennox Clarke: BBBofC English Super Middleweight Title Bout
- Daniel Dubois vs. Tom Little: Vacant BBBofC English Heavyweight Title Bout

- Raza Hamza vs. Lewis Pettitt
- Ryan Garner vs. TBA
- James Branch vs. TBA

Although Murray is now without an opponent and currently not scheduled to fight on June 23, he is currently looking for an opponent, which does not necessarily close the door on him still taking a fight for the O2 Arena event.
