Zack Sabre Jr Is Exactly Where He Wants To Be In New Japan
Zack Sabre Jr is fulfilling his childhood aspirations.
The last couple years, Zack Sabre Jr has been wrestling for New Japan Pro Wrestling and has been part of the Suzuki-gun stable. He also wrestled for another Japanese wrestling promotion in NOAH in the years before going to NJPW. In an interview with ESPN, Sabre said wrestling in Japan and specifically for NJPW was "exactly' where he imagined himself.
"My dream when I was 14 was to wrestle full-time in Japan, for New Japan. But if in 2018, that wasn't a company that was right for me, then I wouldn't go. I'm not just there for the idea. This is where I want to be. It's kind of a double reward, in that it's something I set out to do, I achieved it, but then also I just feel so at home in the company," said Sabre.
While in NJPW, Sabre has won the New Japan Cup and challenged Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. During the interview, Sabre discussed his match against Okada, coming to the United States independent wrestling promotions, and learning he needed to improve over the last several years.
